Dear Student

Minimum Standards Online Assessment.

From 2020, you will be required to sit assessments in numeracy, reading and writing in order to demonstrate a minimum standard before receiving the HSC. All 3 tests are of 45 minutes in duration..

STUDENTS MUST PASS ALL COMPONENTS OF THE ONLINE MINIMUM STANDARDS ASSESSMENT BEFORE SITTING THE HSC.

This online programme is designed to assist you in developing the skills to pass all components. It is a specialised self-directed learning program that can be paired with small group and individual tutoring from your school.

The numeracy component covers time, number, measurement, probability, statistics, ratio/rates and algebra. Each Unit has been designed to assess your background knowledge then provide tools and strategies to advance those skills, culminating in a skills development module and graduated practice tests.

The reading component has three skill builders of varying difficulty followed by a full practice that replicates what you can expect in the true online tests. There are six repeats of this process. Areas covered in the reading component include punctuation, grammar, meaning of words, and the interpretation of graphs, tables and various texts.

The final component is writing. Students can practice using a variety of prompts, then check their responses with true category three examples.

If you work systematically through the program we are confident you will master the essential skills to pass the online assessments and to achieve the necessary qualification to graduate from high school.

Good luck
